Review: Group Therapy Cafe at Katong V

Hello there everyone.

Many, many apologies for the very delayed posts all throughout summer.
Mandy and I have been up to our necks with work (yes we got ourselves jobs-label us hardworking), and I just got back recently from travelling from Europe!

Finally we found time to hang out together with a break from rehearsals and lo and behold, we ended up doing work again; just that we decided to kill two birds with one stone by bringing you this review and outfit post while we were at it.

This was fairly impromptu so we were armed with nothing but an iPhone to take pictures with(which Mandy swears by in times of need).

We decided on Group Therapy Cafe since it was near us and rather empty for a public holiday.
We needed a place that we could do our work without too much congestion and so this fit the bill. Personally, I quite liked the store front, although Mandy felt that the main branch had it better from what she remembered of her visit to the Duxton branch.

Apple Carrot Juice
$6

We both had Apple Carrot juice since they ran out of the Avocado Smoothie I was looking for ):
Oh how I crave avocado smoothies.
It was alright, nothing too special.  Tasted fresh, but nonetheless just juice as you would expect. I have a hunch that they used green apples. There were green apples in there somewhere - pretty confident I managed to catch that.

Poached Eggs and Mushrooms
($3 and $4 respectively)

I wasn't feeling up to a full dinner that day so I settled for two sides instead. Originally I had intended to order scrambled eggs, but then the kitchen regretfully informed me that they had somehow run out although they were able to do the poached eggs. The staff had been pretty kind to apologise repeatedly for not being to serve up the eggs since I already had been rejected for my avocado smoothie and with the dish that Mandy had initially intended to order being unavailable as well.
I suppose since they are fairly new they may have some teething problems.

The poached eggs were as any poached eggs you can find around. The mushrooms proved to be jucier and flavourful, although it bordered on being too salty. Nonetheless I enjoyed the mushrooms for that since Mandy and I had our fair share of bland, undercooked sauteed mushrooms in local  cafes we have been to.
Eggs Benedict with Mushrooms
($15 for the main dish and $4 for the extra side of Mushrooms)

Mandy on the other hand had more of a dinner appetite and a brunch food craving so she decided on her usual Eggs Benedict order for the evening after she was told that the Big Platter was no longer available. According to her, the hollandaise sauce was decent-it had a nice tangy flavour to it without being overly rich, complementing the brioche toast and salmon that lent the dish its savoury flavour. The poached eggs were done well and came apart nice and runny so that was another check in her box.
The mushrooms were no doubt really salty when eaten alone but when eaten with the rest of the dish, it was actually really nice. Mandy says you should consider adding it on the side if you try their Eggs Benedict next time.

In conclusion, we enjoyed the place for its ambience and peace, but the food isn't worth shouting about given the prices they are at. So do take note should you want to go and visit, although this outlet will be rewarding in the sense that the waiting time should be significantly shorter than the waiting time at their Duxton outlet.

Pardon my very awkward poses - I'm more used to being behind the camera not because I'm a better photographer but simply because my best friend is very photogenic <3
She did help me to take these shots though so yay kudos to her!
The top was an impulse buy since I almost never purchase any tie tops, but I quite like this since I always have a thing for blue and white and viola this sleevless one convinced me from the racks that it would help me brave the relentless European sun.
The skirt was something I picked up whilst roaming in Europe, which I believe to be from a French brand that proved to be exceptionally charming in both its prices and offerings. My friends emptied their pockets there. It's aztec and while I usually don't wear bandage skirts, I found myself just trying this on even though technically I got this for my sisters.
Well, sisters share don't they?

Personally I liked this shot since I told Mandy it was rather Brandy Melville-ish. Or so I tell myself. Nonetheless I like it.
This was pretty candid so I joke that it's the perfect lip gloss ad.
"put it on and feel like Audrey Hepburn even when you're in the middle of an urban mess!"
Yeah my taglines never did quite get me far although my friends always graciously award me brownie points for effort.

She's always in black so I love how timeless she looks-somehow the girl just looks good in black and it's nice that her brown hair manages to liven up the darkness a little.
She paired her all black ensemble with a simple Tiffany necklace.
All black with a hint of silver. Classy.
I just love photographing her.

Anyway, thank you for sticking around to read us despite our lack of updates. We're working hard on bring you guys a new skin and possibly a lot more new surprises to celebrate our blog passing the 12000 view mark since we started!
We'll keep you guys updated real soon before school starts. Till then! (:

Love,
Brendy
