Welcome to the second installation of this series - Lippie stix!!
As some of you may already be aware, I'm a compulsive lip product hoarder. So it may come as no surprise that I decided to try their lip range too upon hearing how wonderful it is.
Fetch
Hot warm pink
Satin Finish
$12 SGD/ 5USD
They all come with a nice, pointed nib that makes it easy to apply to your lips. Have I mentioned that these smell like vanilla? Super similar to the MAC lipsticks actually, which I have caught a sniff of in MAC stores. Which is amazing. Vanilla yes please. It fades to a sort of sticky, slightly bitter chemical taste if you happen to have it on. Not a fan, but it doesn't bother me too much either.
To be honest I was surprised at how small they were since they looked pretty big on camera - think of your pinky as a reference. Yeah the stick itself is about that width or even thinner.
It's my first time trying a satin finish and it is rather drying. I was slightly disappointed since I adore moisturising products and bloggers had praised this for being creamy. Well I can certainly see how it would be creamy when swatched on the hand, but it can be problematic on dry lips like mine without any lipbalm whatsoever.
Pigmentation is amazing - it is fully opaque with two or even one strong swipe, which I have to be careful with since this shade is really very bright. I love my bright lips, but this is rather loud for the daytime or even the night. Nonetheless it is gorgeous and I do like it very much. It's a rather perfect shade, although I wish they had a cooler, barbie pink one too.
Bound
Nude PinkGlossy Finish
$12 SGD/ 5USD
This one is a lot creamier than the satin finish and does leave a shine, but somehow their glossy finishes in lighter shades don't suit me. This is also very opaque, but opaque to the point that it can be tacky. The gloss is really evident for those of you who love a shiny touch to your lips . Over time the glossy effect wears off gracefully, and in fact looks nicer when it's a bit matt. A word of caution though - this is so creamy that it breaks and melts very easily (that's what happened to my nib in the mail ugh). While swatching for this post I broke it even further ):
It is a rather easy to wear shade of nude, but it runs on the lighter side. It certainly doesn't look light in the bullet but somehow when on the lips, it is. In fact I have to be careful with this one if not I would risk looking like an Asian goo goo doll with pale sticky, shiny lips. When used sparingly however it can have an elegant nude finish which is more of what you should be going for. I would imagine this would look stunning on girls with darker complexions than mine. If you are a very fair person or fellow vampire, you may want to think twice about this one.
For now, I like it. It's just troublesome to have to be so cautious when using this.
Rocket
Neon Coral PinkSatin Finish
$12 SGD/ 5USD
Rocket is a neon coral lippie stix and the very first one I got! Now this is also incredibly bright and it happens to stain your lips, even more so than Fetch. It is also brighter than Fetch and hence may require a bit of guts to wear full on. This was my first lippie stix and I do like wearing it, although I must say Fetch might be my favourite of them all because it's the easiest to wear amongst all.
Also, if you're cool toned like me you may want to be careful of piling this on. This turns out to be pretty warm (plus neon, which hardly does us any favours) so if you put too much, you will end up looking very yellow and sallow. Which had happened to me before sadly. Otherwise for warmer, darker toned girls or even warmer fair girls you should give this a go as it screams summer which is pretty perfect for this absurd weather.
Here's a comparison shot.
From fist - in: Rocket, Fetch and Bound.
(You can see how neon Rocket is Compared to Bound!)
Apologies for the bad lighting - it was about to rain when I took this and I was in a hurry. I hope this helps and if you wish to know where I got these from, check it out here as there is more information there.
Happy Vesak Day Long Weekend everyone!
Love
Brendy
