Exploring Tiong Bahru: Of Bookstores and Shophouses, and Monochrome Outfits

After our lunch at Forty Hands, we decided to explore Tiong Bahru's Yong Siak Street. People have called it all sorts of things(most common descriptions include: indie and hipster) and since we were around the area, we decided to check it out after the filling meal. We really liked the eclectic array of shops and how there was hardly anyone else around in the early afternoon as we roamed the street. Here are some of the shops and sights that caught our eye.

If you've known me for quite a while, you'd know that I am almost always in black and white. They are and will be my favorite colors for a very long time, simply because they go together perfectly, like brownies and vanilla bean ice-cream: they are awesome separately, but absolutely bomb when they are together. Also, the combination is easy to pull off and allows for varying looks to be created with basic wardrobe-friendly colors. I decided to go with a loose tank tucked in with one of my favorite jersey cotton skater skirts when we went Tiong Bahru exploring'because I just felt like it was a skirt day. I was feeling the gold and browns as well-that should explain the gold accents in my bag and necklace, and the wedge heels. And yes, you can now call me an intuitive outfit coordinator.

I'm really excited for Bren and I to cover more fashion posts and share more of our personal style and outfits up here on the blog soon! As for now, a lot of our December posts (as you will notice soon enough) will be dedicated to food and recipes(yes, we will be sharing recipes that we've tried, tested and loved for you to re-create and try out!) ,for all of you looking for ideas in this season of celebration and loving. Until then, do stick around as we churn out more stuff for all of you good people!

Love,
Mandy
