Cafe Checkout: Coast and Company

Hey everyone!
I've finally gotten down to writing about a new place we checked out a few Saturdays ago and I'm pretty excited to share about this on the blog today.

So for those of you who know the both of us, we have been verging on incredulously busy with work commitments, some school commitments and other things that we have been busy.
On my end, I was having a bad craving for a lazy Saturday-no work, no places to rush to, nothing to check off my to-do list. I just wanted to laze around and enjoy a place with good ambience and my
type of soul food-something sweet.
And so that's what we did at a newly opened cafe that we both really enjoyed.
Many Thank Yous to Brend for agreeing to check out Coast and Company with me-the cafe that this post is about!
A newly opened cafe at Siglap Drive, you'll realize when you step into Coast & Company that it isn't like many cafes that are currently open, and I mean it in a good way.
I guess the best way I could describe it is that it's a cafe and a bicycle showroom and workshop, all in one.  A collaboration between  Papa Palheta and a boutique bike builder store Coast Cycles, we found Coast and Company to be a place that delivered not just in serving up good coffee(which I will get to in a bit) and decent sweet treats, but in providing a really relaxing and serene environment that was pretty perfect for a lazy Saturday, and few places have left that kind of impression of the of us.
I guess us sitting down there, refusing to leave even after about close to 3 hours even after the food we ordered was all gone, probably would tell you that we really enjoyed the ambience that the cafe was able to provide.
I guess that was the thing that made Brend and I go, "We need to come back here again." a few times after we left.

What We Had-Drinks
Brend went with a Watermelon Juice and I had a Flat White.
Brendy commented that the watermelon juice was pretty refreshing considering how it was mad hot outside, and she liked how it was fresh. Then again she reckons any fruit juice would be, but she really liked this one especially since it wasn't diluted in the least.

If you've been reading the blog or have known me for sometime, you would probably know that no drink gets me like coffee does. Aside from the fact that coffee gives me near-superhuman powers(ok maybe not but I kid you not when I tell you that caffeine gives me something close to that or at least makes me feel that way), I count enjoying a good cup of coffee as one of the best things in life.
I was (obviously) really looking forward to having my cup of coffee because I've heard good things about Papa Palheta's coffee beans. And my cup of Flat White  didn't disappoint with the right balance of acidity and creaminess. You know how a good cup of coffee makes you feel good?
This made me feel good. Just to get it out there.

What We Had-Food
The food options were pretty limited at Coast and Company when we visited, the reason probably being, in our opinion at least, that it's a really new place.
We eventually settled on a Matcha and Matcha Bundt Cake, some assorted kueh which came with no particular name but is suspiciously like Kueh Talam, and Almond Peanut Butter Toast that left the both of us really full(considering that it was lunch for the both of us)
We both liked how the Matcha cake slice was chock full of flavor and it wasn't creamy, rich or too sweet but on the contrary, pretty light. It had a really strong matcha favor that we both fancied and soon, the cake was all...gone.

The kuey was a little disappointing actually - it wasn't as fragrant as Bendy had hoped for. It was chewy at least, and not too sweet which proved to be its saving grace. The Matcha cake was the better of the two for us both.

When I first took a look at the menu, my eyes immediately were drawn to the Almond Peanut Butter Toast option. Brioche toast with almond peanut butter, honey and almond flakes sounded like a perfect combination and so we had that as well.
It was simple but so well done. Served nice and warm, it was really yummy especially with the balance of flavors on point-not overly sweet or rich with the right amount of crunch, it definitely kept us wanting more.

After sitting around and refusing to move for hours,  we finally checked out the rest of Coast and Company-it's second floor which consisted of a bicycle store and showroom. Bicycle lovers, you would definitely want to check out the bicycles by Coast Cycles-they are pretty exquisite!

Though we have to admit that getting to Coast and Company wasn't exactly an easy feat(it's pretty far in, nestled within Siglap Drive's private housing estate) we definitely didn't regret making the trip. There are few places that are this relaxing, serene and perfect for a lazy Saturday or for when you want a quiet and tranquil place to unwind from the day's craziness. And for that, we both decided we'd gladly come back again.
